Communicating in one or more foreign languages is a necessity in today’s society. In this sense, all the Schools associated with Escuela Excelente are making an effort to improve their foreign language teaching. As part of this effort, we recognise that Language Assistants do a great job in Schools, setting an example for students and sharing their culture, as well as improving and developing the language skills of students by giving them an insight into the culture of your country. Language assistants bring a breath of fresh air to classrooms. They add a new dimension to lessons and motivate students to learn other languages. At the same time, they gain initial professional experience and improve their own knowledge of languages.

AS AN ENGLISH LANGUAGE ASSISTANT, YOU WILL:

• Join a Spanish School as a Language Assistant.
• Teaching time is limited to between 18 and 25 hours a week.
• Receive a guaranteed monthly allowance: 10 months pay.
• Have Public Health Insurance covered by the program.
• Participate in a program run by a serious and professional organization.
• Get initial training and participate in teaching workshops.
• Receive a certificate of completion at the end of the program.
• Enjoy paid school holidays (except for the summer period).
• Pay no fees.

PROGRAMS’ REQUIREMENTS TO TEACH ENGLISH IN SPAIN:

• Hold a current Passport, Active N.I.E. and Spanish Social Security number.
• Be an English, French or German speaker without a foreign accent.
• Clean Criminal Background Check and sexual offenses.
• Be positive, proactive, dynamic, hard-working and a team player.
• Must have an open availability Monday through Friday from 9am to 5pm.
• Be punctual and professional.
• Be able to work on your own and with others.
• Have confidence and the ability to be able to adapt to new situations quickly.

IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT PROGRAM APPLICANTS HAVE:

• Degree in education or bilingual education.
• CELTA / CELT, Cert. TEEFL or similar preferred for this.
• Prior classroom teaching experience in Spain and/or other countries.
• Previous experience teaching English to elementary and high school students.

Our Program

As part of its social objective and strategic line, the Escuela Excelente Association develops a program to promote and support the implementation of a pedagogical model of bilingual, bicultural and/or reinforced curriculum teaching in English language and Anglo-American culture, in collaboration with other institutions and organizations, and with educational centres, within our principles and values, and with well-defined objectives

The Objectives

We intend to develop a model of bilingual education, of quality, guaranteed by the permanent training of our teachers. Through the Program of Conversation Assistants, this objective is achieved by providing experiences, practices, and immersion, both for students and teaching staff, as well as for the Assistant, in the other culture and the other language. Escuela Excelente has the “BES” (Bilingual Excellent School) Quality Seal and Program. The Auxiliary Program is developed in coordination with the BES Program, in the centers that have it in place.
